Meet Camila Amaral
Certified Clinical Psychologist - PSI Member 10154
Hi! My name is Camila and I work as a psychotherapist in Ireland, where I have lived since 2015. I was born and raised in São Paulo and I carry with me the contrast of these two worlds that also live within me, from a life that taught me to move between opposites: from asphalt to nature, from pain to expansion, from rigidity to freedom.
Before following my calling as a psychologist, I built a career in the corporate world, where I worked as an HR executive for IT and Aviation companies — but it was by listening to my intuition and embracing my own crises that I finally reconnected with the purpose that inspired me at the age of 13: curiosity about the vastness of the human universe and, later, caring for people's emotional health.
Psychotherapy for Brazilian and Multicultural Expatriates
Do you feel like you're 'neither there nor here'?
Living in Europe can be amazing, but it can also be lonely, frustrating and tiring.
I specialise in assisting Brazilian and non-Irish adults living in Ireland as well as Europeans in general living in intercultural contexts. I understand the unique challenges of:
-
Migration grief (homesickness, uprooting, identity crisis);
-
Cultural shock and isolation (difficulty adapting, depleted "social battery");
-
Internal pressure ("I need to succeed" vs. exhaustion from trying to fit in);
-
Multicultural relationships (differences in values, family at a distance).
-
Creating a sense of belonging (without having to deny your roots);
-
Managing guilt (for being away from family or "not enjoying" enough);
-
Balancing identities (being Brazilian in Europe goes beyond the stereotype).
I currently have over 5,000 consultations in Ireland, using an integrative approach based on Relational Psychoanalysis, tools from modern Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (3rd wave of CBT), and combining elements of Humanistic and Transpersonal Psychology. I always try to work in harmony with the needs of each patient.
Sessions in Portuguese, English or Spanish, face-to-face in Dublin or online.

Knowing yourself is like diving into an ocean...
I help you identify how past experiences (family, relationships, traumas) influence your behaviors and emotions in the present.
-
For example: anxiety, excessive self-criticism or difficulties in relationships often have their origins in old dynamics that deserve to be explored.
In addition to in-depth analysis, I work with practical techniques (exercises, recording thoughts and dreams, self-compassion training) to promote concrete changes in your daily life, developing tools to deal with certain issues. I believe that therapy is about balance: between understanding the past and acting in the present, between embracing pain and challenging patterns that no longer serve you.
My approach is welcoming and collaborative: you are the expert in your story, and I act as a guide in this process of self-knowledge. I value the uniqueness of each patient – there are no ready-made answers, but paths built together.
I believe in relationships, presence and the courage to be whole and authentic for a more meaningful life — even when we don't feel ready yet. I believe in the power of love as a force for transformation and in humor as a form of healing.
... and who knows, maybe we'll find some pearls on this dive!?
